Cities People Love: What tourists want in 2023

Oaxaca is at the top of the list of favourite cities of 2023 picked by readers. This Mexican city grabbed the position for the second year in a row. 

Udaipur has been named second among the top 10 cities loved by tourists. It was at No 2 in 2021 as well. 

Kyoto, Japan’s cultural capital, is ranked third. It was picked for its food, incredible sights and cultural landmarks.

With its elephants, waterfalls, and magnificent restaurants, Ubud, Indonesia proved to be the ideal location at number four.

Mexican cities are prominent on the list. San Miguel de Allende is a long-time tourist favourite and ranked fifth.

It is impossible to leave Mexico City off any travel itinerary. It took the sixth position this time.

Japan’s bustling capital, Tokyo, takes seventh place. Its Michellin-starred ramen hotels are a big draw.  

Also named the best city in Europe this year, Turkey’s culture and style capital, Istanbul, is at number eight. The food and people get full marks.

At ninth place is Bangkok, which is home to magnificent palaces and temples that showcase the city’s rich history and architectural splendour.

Guess who rounds the top ten list? It’s Mumbai. The city’s dynamic energy, historical significance, and diverse offerings make it a compelling destination for travellers.
