Agriculture and farming Budget 2023
Agriculture falls under state jurisdiction in India, as it is listed under Entry 14 in the state list of the Indian Constitution. All states must address agriculture-related issues, as it is the largest sector of the economy. Some aspects of agriculture are also included in the Union List and Concurrent List of the Constitution. Despite being primarily a state responsibility, most states acknowledge the role of the Union government in matters affecting the agricultural sector.
