Misal Pav, Rajma Chawal and more: 7 Indian delicacies on world’s ‘best vegan dishes’ list

Get your taste buds ready! Taste Atlas, a leading online food guide, has just released their latest list of the world’s top-rated vegan dishes.

With one of the largest vegan populations in the world, India dominated the list with seven top-rated vegan dishes.

Misal Pav, a mouth-watering Maharashtrian favourite, claimed the 11th spot on Taste Atlas’ list of top-rated vegan dishes.

Misal Pav was also named the world’s most delicious vegetarian dish at the London Foodie Hub Awards in 2015.

Coming in at number 20 is the beloved aloo gobi, a classic dish hailing from north India.

Rajma earned the 22nd rank on the list.

Rajma was brought to India from central Mexico and Guatemala, but it is now most closely associated with cuisine from the north.

Gobi Manchurian, a delicious Indo-Chinese dish, ranked 24th on the list.

Other Indian dishes on the list include masala vada and bhel puri.

Coming in at number 27, Masala Vada is a delightful traditional Indian fritter with its roots in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

Bhel puri is a beloved savoury snack found in cafes and street carts across India. It ranked 37.

This is not the first time that Indian cuisine has dominated a food list.

Previously, seven Paneer dishes claimed the top 50 positions in Taste Atlas’ Best Cheese Dishes in the World list.
