Moroccon players’ mothers grab limelight in historic World Cup campaign
The video of Moroccan footballer Sofiane Boufal dancing with his mother went viral after the team created history at World Cup. In fact, Moroccan players celebrating wins with their mothers have become the theme of their campaign.
Earlier Achraf Hakimi was also seen celebrating Morocco’s victories at the FIFA World Cup with his mother in the stands as did other players from the team.
Morocco have emerged as the biggest surprise team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as they became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup after beating Portugal in last eight stage.
Morocco team has travelled to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup with their mothers and they are considered as the inspiring force behind Morocco’s historic campaign in football’s biggest tournament.
The role of mothers in the unprecedented journey of the Morocco national team at the World Cup becomes even more important as the 26-memeber team consists of 16 immigrants.
Apart from being the first African side, Morocco are also the first Arab nation to reach the last four stage of a World Cup and face France in the semi-finals. The team has garnered a lot of support from all Arab nations.
