Delhi NCR should brace for another choking winter as stubble burning continues in Punjab

Farmers blame state government for not providing stubble cutting machines.

According to Indian Agricultural Research Institute Punjab saw sharp spike in stubble-burning incidents from zero on 29 Sept 29 to 8 on 30 Sept, and 45 on 1 October

In latest visuals coming in from the state, farmers can be seen burning crop residue, major source of pollution in Delhi-NCR.

On October 5, a total of 130 paddy residue-burning events were recorded in Punjab

Farmers claim they burn stubble since there is a  brief window of just  three weeks between paddy harvest and wheat crop sowing.
