World Hepatitis Day 2023:  How to care for your liver?

Alcohol weakens your liver, causing cell damage, fat buildup, inflammation, scarring, and potentially cancer. Maintain liver health by limiting alcohol consumption.

Maintain a healthy weight, as obesity leads to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, leading to liver damage.

Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein sources to your diet to improve health of your liver. Processed food and sugary drinks can damage your liver.

Water promotes liver heath by flushing out the toxins.

Exercise on a regular basis helps improve insulin resistance and lower the risk of liver disease.

Avoid direct contact with toxins such as those found in cleaning and aerosol products, pesticides, chemicals, and additives. When you do use aerosols, make sure the room is ventilated, and wear a mask.

Use soap and warm water immediately after using the bathroom, when you have changed a diaper, and before preparing or eating food.

Over-the-counter pain relievers and most drugs are processed by your liver. Overuse or prolonged usage of these medications can cause serious liver damage.
