World’s best cuisine: Where does India stand?
Food is what connects India’s many different cultures. India has ranked fifth on the list of best cuisines in the world for 2022, as per an online survey done by Taste Atlas. The ranking is based on audience votes for ingredients, dishes, and beverages.
Among the country’s 411 dishes, the best-rated foods were Butter Garlic naan, Kheema, Shahi Paneer, Paneer Tikka, Malai Kofta, Tandoori, Butter Chicken, Paratha, Masala Dosa, Rasgulla, Puri, Kaju Katli, Chole Bhature, the rating stated.
While India stood fifth, Japan ranked fourth on the list with 4.59 points, according to the Taste Atlas Awards 2022 results.
Japan’s top ranked dishes were Kare, Yakiniku, Karaage, Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, Japanese Cheesecake, Sushi, Gyoza and Teriyaki.
Spain came third with 4.59 points on the list. The ‘most popular’ dishes featured Paella, Chorizo, Churros, among others.
Jamón 100% ibérico de bellota, Jamon Ibérico, Jamón ibérico de bellota, Espetos, Gambas al ajillo, Gambas à la plancha, Choriza a la sidra, Huevos rotos, Manchego curado were the other best-rated dishes from Spain.
Greek cuisine came in second on the rankings with 4.69 points, according to the Taste Atlas website. Best restaurants to try Greek cuisine were Chania city’s Thalassino Ageri, to Antikristo, and Kouzina EPE, Heraklion’s Peskesi, Athen’s Loukoumades Ktistakis.
Bougatsa, Dakos, Saganaki, Paidakia, Gyros, Trigona panoramatos, Souvlaki, Tzatziki, Tiropita, Tsoureki, Bakaliaros, among others were the best-rated dishes in Greece.
As per the list, Italy was ranked first with 4.72 points. Best restaurants to try Italian cuisine were Marostica’s Osteria Madonnetta, Savigno’s Amerigo dal 1934, San Michele del Carso’s Lokanda Devetak 1870 and 2,997 others.
The best-rated food items on the list from Italy were Pizza, Risotto, Ravioli, Gnocchi, Tiramisu, Pizza Napoletana, Bruschetta, Nougat, Marinara, Pizza Margherita, Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto Toscano, Nduja, Risotto ai funghi porcini, Pesto Genovese, and 2,433 others.
